Shanequia Berry

I am a Chicago native and have lived in Chicago my entire life. I have both my Bachelors and Master’s  degree in Social Work. My entire life I have prided myself on helping others, as this is something I enjoy  doing on a regular basis. I am currently a Foster Care Social Worker for a non-profit organization. My  plan is to one day become a child and family therapist. Aside from being a Social Worker, I am also an  entrepreneur. I am the owner and head baker of Berry Berry Sweets. During my high school years, I  realized my passion for cooking, especially baking. After years of going back and forth with the decision  of starting my own business, it wasn’t until my last semester of graduate school in the spring of 2014,  when I decided to launch my business full blown; and Berry Berry Sweets became known to others  outside of my friends and family. My ultimate goal is to have my own storefront, and I will be sure to  make this dream come true. Although baking is my passion, helping and mentoring young girls is also my passion. I am currently the president of the Young Professional Board for S.I.S.T.E.R.S INC. Leadership Program. While in high school, being a part of this organization taught me the importance of sisterhood as well as the importance of self-respect as a woman; therefore, it is my obligation to remain a part of such a great organization to help spread the word of how beneficial it is and mentor young ladies, as I am positive product of it. When I am not focusing on these three entities of my life, I can be found traveling and/or working on my other business ventures that I am preparing for.
