COURTNEY GRIFFIN, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT 

I am a Detroit native and graduate of Michigan State University as well as DePaul University with a Master of Arts in Professional, Technical, Business, and Scientific Writing. Additionally, I also have a Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language/ESL Language Instructor from DePaulUniversity and am currently working on a Master of Education in Educational and Instructional Technology from Saint Joseph's University. This strong experience in education and rhetoric has led to my current role as an Instructional Designer at Wiley Global Education Solutions, where I collaborate closely with graduate school level faculty to design courses that inspire students and adhere to best practices in online learning.  After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Arts and Technology from MSU, I decided to use those skills to start my own company Just The Beginning LLC. JTB provides full-service start-up services and consulting to non-profits. I am the driving force behind the community engagement and mentorship entity of Y.A.B. I have a passion for helping to develop young girls and further enhance their educational development. My personal career in higher education as an instructor has helped to develop our Y.A.B. Mentorship Program partnership with Chicago Public Schools and set the platform for future programs. Through event collaborations and outreach to several dynamic mentors, I help to further flourish and carry out the Y.A.B. mission.
