Candice StokesMy name is Candice Stokes and I am a native of Detroit, Michigan. I graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and am currently completing a Master of Arts Degree in Youth Development through Michigan State University. In 2006, I began my career path in human service and social work. During that time, my personal time was spent structuring an after school program and a potential non-profit organization.
In 2012, I piloted an after school program for pre-teen girls teaching life skills at an elementary school on the Eastside of Detroit. After a fun and successful run, I focused on my career leading me to become a supervisor of a program at a Child and Family Agency that keeps children out of foster care and keeps families together safely. I have two contractual positions that allow me to continue to provide service to the community. My continued efforts are in relaunching the after school program under the umbrella of a non-profit, launching a lifestyle online magazine for young adult women and beginning a self-love campaign through survival kits provided to young girls at schools and churches. I have a team of professional young women who are linking with these initiatives to see them through and look forward to seeing these initiatives impact young girls and women in their unique ways.
